Strategy description
The GBPJPY Awesome Oscillator Reversal Breakout Strategy is a structured rule-based system designed for the GBPJPY H1 market. It combines a momentum reversal signal from the Awesome Oscillator with a delayed breakout-style STOP entry, allowing the strategy to participate only when price confirms movement beyond a recent range.
The strategy uses an Awesome Oscillator zero-line cross as its initial directional trigger. However, it does not enter immediately at market. Instead, it places a pending STOP order outside the recent price structure using the highest or lowest close over the last 14 bars, expanded by a volatility buffer based on the recent bar range. This creates a hybrid reversal-breakout logic where momentum shift and price confirmation must align before a trade is activated.
For long setups, the strategy reacts to a downward zero-line cross on the Awesome Oscillator and places a Buy Stop above the recent highest close plus a multiple of recent bar range. For short setups, it reacts to an upward zero-line cross and places a Sell Stop below the recent lowest close minus the same type of range-based buffer. Pending orders remain valid for 21 bars, duplicate trades are disabled, and pending order replacement is not allowed.
Risk management is volatility-adjusted through an ATR-based stop-loss, set to 3.3 × ATR(22), while the profit target is fixed at 280 pips. In addition, the strategy closes open positions on Friday at 21:00 to reduce weekend exposure.
